Although Laura and I come from very different family backgrounds and childhoods, we have grown to be very similar and enjoy much of the same things. There is one thing, however, that I don't think we will ever agree on; swimming. Maybe it was the trauma of having to be rescued from the 4 foot deepsection of the Idaho Falls Aquatic Center when I was 11. Or the fact that when I was 12, I had to enroll in "Guppy" swimming lessons with a bunch of 8 year olds in order to learn how to swim well enough to get my Life Scout award. Although those two events were life altering enough, my story does not end there. I actually ended up flunking "Guppies" and had to re-take it at 13 years old while all my nine year old clasemates looked on from the "Gold Fish" classes and laughed at me. Now that was enough to seal my fate!
Laura, on the other hand, basically grew up in a swimming pool. Just about every family event was poolside, and by the time I was finally graduating from "Guppies" she was gearing up to having her first summer job as a Lifegaurd!
Anyway, the bottom line is that we have different opinions about swimming. When Parker came into the picture, Laura got an early start at trying to pass on her swimming genes. Last summer she signed him up for infant swimming lessons, and the rest is history! Parker loves to swim, and we decided to kick off this summer by buying him a kiddie pool to play in. He loved it, and as always, gave it a 100% effort when learning how to climb the little slide and splash his way down.
Here are a few pictures that show just how intense Parker feels about swimming!
